Tennis fans watching Wimbledon will have 'real-time insights' at their fingertips this year, thanks a new AI-powered app.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club and IBM are rolling out the app, which features 'match chat', using an interactive assistant, as well as other purpose-built experiences for visitors to the tournament.

It also gives tournament goers ‘Likelihood to Win’ win-probability tool that updates throughout every game.

The app, built on IBM watsonx, uses AI agents and language models trained on tennis terminology to answer fan questions.

“The innovations we have introduced in recent years, driven by generative AI in conjunction with IBM, allow us to provide more exciting ways for our hundreds of millions of fans around the world to interact with The Championships”, said Usama Al-Qassab, marketing & commercial director at the All England Club.

IBM SVP of marketing and communications Jonathan Adashek added: “Solutions like Match Chat and Likelihood to Win show how AI on watsonx can deliver tennis fans the compelling real-time insight and match engagement they want.”

The Wimbledon app will be available on Google Play and the Apple App Store ready for the iconic tennis tournament, which runs from 30 June to 13 July. Learn more about the service via IBM.
