Yahoo Finance announced it is partnering with Coinbase in a move to let users move from cryptocurrency research to trading across thousands of crypto tickers and equities, with the experience available on desktop and mobile web in the US at launch.
It comes as the crypto ecosystem continues to blend and break into the finance mainstream.
Yahoo Finance said it is expanding deeper into crypto as demand grows for credible crypto information and simple ways to participate in the crypto economy, complementing recent initiatives like a prediction markets hub with Polymarket and an upcoming Yahoo Finance crypto hub, it said in an announcement.
One click on Yahoo Finance-listed crypto tickers and equities will take users directly to Coinbase to transact, the announcement revealed, and the companies say they will progressively integrate Coinbase data and insights across Yahoo Finance to surface trending cryptocurrencies, explain price movements and let users compare digital and traditional investments.
“This partnership addresses a clear shift in investor behavior toward considering digital assets alongside traditional investments,” said George Leimer, GM, Yahoo Finance.
“Coinbase is a leader in building the next generation of investing infrastructure, and together we see an opportunity to create smarter, more intuitive experiences that meet investors where they are, and where they’re going. It aims to serve the everyday investors who are increasingly exploring crypto investments but don’t necessarily need advanced trading tools.
Leimer added: "With Coinbase, we’re helping everyday investors engage with crypto in a way that feels modern, credible, and seamlessly connected to the rest of their financial lives.”
Max Branzburg, Coinbase Head of Consumer and Business Products, meanwhile, commented: “Through this partnership, millions of Yahoo Finance users gain access to data for the widest range of stock and crypto assets available on any single trading platform globally."
