Xiaomi rolls out Tesla Y challenger

Xiaomi, the Chinese electricals brand which makes smartphones competing with Apple and Samsung, has now unveiled its first electric sport-utility vehicle (eSUV) that's priced to compete against Tesla's Model Y.
The Xiaomi YU7 model eSUV is being priced from 253,500 yuan (about $35,300), around 10,000 yuan cheaper than the leading Tesla Model Y eSUV.
According to media reports, Xiaomi saw over 200,000 orders in three minutes when pre-orders opened on Thursday.

Xiaomi's EV business is underpinned by a partnership with fellow Chinese EV firm BYD, as well as tie-ups with Toyota and Nissan.
