Wendy’s plans Ireland launch as well as scaling up in the UK

Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN), the American fast-food chain, announced a plan to launch in Ireland and also expand its British footprint, following the success of its 2021 return to the UK market.

It comes as Wendy's plans to open hundreds of restaurants across Europe over the next decade.

The fast-food firm has now signed development agreements with franchisees in Ireland, and, has begun franchise recruitment efforts.

Wendy's aims to start opening new restaurants in 2025.

It re-entering the UK market in 2021, and it is planning to see up to 50 new restaurants by the end of this year - with a longer-term goal of reaching 400 restaurants in the U.K.

“We are continuing our journey to become a brand of increased global significance, and Europe is a high-priority, strategic growth market to expand Wendy's presence internationally,” Wendy’s international president E.J. Wunch said in a statement.

Michael Clarke, Wendy’s managing director for Europe, meanwhile, added: "It's an exciting time to be with the Wendy's team in Europe.

“Brand fans and customers continue to ask us, ‘Where is Wendy's opening next?’

“We are ready to answer the demand by bringing more Wendy's to more people – putting our fresh, high-quality and delicious food into the hands of European consumers where they live, work and play."
