US billionaire John Textor eyes sale of Crystal Palace stake for Everton buy-in

US billionaire John Textor who part owns Crystal Palace is now looking to switch allegiances with plans to sell his stake in the London-club and instead buy Everton, that’s according to new press reports.

The investor, who was previously chair of sports streaming firm FuboTV, holds a portfolio of interests in football clubs – with stakes in Lyon, Botafogo, and Molenbeek.

It is claimed that Textor doesn’t believe Crystal Palace’s current structure is compatible with his multi-club ownership model.

Textor has reportedly held talks with investment banking firm Raine Group, which brokered the Glazer family’s partial sale of Manchester United to INEOS, over the sale of his 45% stake in Crystal Palace.

Everton has its own complexities of ownership that meanwhile need to be navigated, with the group’s recent financial management causing points deductions and regulatory scrutiny over the past season.

Reports to date remain speculative, though this may turn out to be the first summer window that sees the transfer of a football club owner as well as players.
