Uber to acquire Getir's Turkish delivery operations
Deal brings food, grocery and retail delivery services Getir and Trendyol Go into Uber's portfolio
Uber has agreed to acquire Getir's delivery portfolio in Turkey, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
The deal covers Getir's food, grocery, retail and water delivery operations and will bring delivery services Getir and Trendyol Go into Uber's portfolio, the ride-hailing company and Mubadala Investment Company said in a statement.
Uber plans to combine Getir and Trendyol Go following completion of the transaction to increase product selection for consumers, create more delivery opportunities for couriers and drive demand to restaurants and retailers.
"With a thriving digital economy and a dynamic consumer base, Uber is committed to investing in Türkiye for the long term," said Dara Khosrowshahi, chief executive of Uber.
Getir customers will continue to use the Getir app and will gain access to more restaurants from Trendyol Go, while Trendyol Go users will be able to access Getir's grocery offerings through the Trendyol Go app, the companies said.
Batuhan Gultakan, chief executive of Getir, said the agreement represents a significant milestone for the company and demonstrates the strength of its operating model and brand in its home market.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions, Uber and Mubadala said.

Getir, founded in Turkey in 2015, pioneered the rapid grocery delivery model before expanding internationally to markets including the UK, where it competed with rivals such as Deliveroo and Gopuff.
The company retreated from several international markets in 2022 and 2023 to focus on its core operations in Turkey as the rapid delivery sector faced mounting pressure over profitability.
