Tether and Bitqik roll out crypto education programme in Laos
Stablecoin issuer teams up with local exchange to deliver seminars, roadshows and online content aimed at explaining Bitcoin, stablecoins and everyday blockchain use.
Tether and Bitqik are launching a reminder programme to promote education around Bitcoin and stablecoins in Laos, as digital asset groups step up efforts to build understanding in emerging markets.
In a joint statement, the companies said Bitqik, a licensed digital asset exchange in Laos, will develop online educational material for students and host quarterly in-person events in major cities. The initiative is intended to reach more than 10,000 people through a mix of seminars, roadshows and digital content over the course of 2026.
The programme will focus on practical use cases rather than abstract theory. Topics will include how Bitcoin works, how stablecoins are used for payments and savings, and how blockchain technology underpins digital assets by recording transactions on a shared, tamper-resistant ledger. For a lay audience, the aim is to explain how these tools can be used in everyday financial activity, such as sending money or storing value, rather than positioning them purely as speculative investments.
A central element of the initiative is education around USD₮, Tether’s dollar-backed stablecoin. Stablecoins are designed to maintain a stable value by being linked to a fiat currency, typically the US dollar, which makes them less volatile than cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The companies said the programme is intended to build trust in USD₮ and support its broader use in Laos’s digital finance ecosystem.
“Financial inclusion is not only achieved by access but by having a clear understanding,” said Paolo Ardoino, chief executive of Tether. He said the collaboration reflects Tether’s focus on grassroots education and on equipping communities with the knowledge needed to participate in the digital economy. By combining education with real-world examples, the programme aims to help people understand both the benefits and the risks of digital assets.
Bitqik said it will deliver the initiative through its Bitqik Academy, which will organise activities throughout 2026. Virasack Viravong, chief executive of Bitqik, said the partnership would promote education on blockchain technology and digital assets, including Bitcoin investment and the use of stablecoins, “especially USD₮, the most widely used stablecoin in the Lao market”.

The quarterly events will take place in Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, bringing the programme beyond the capital to other parts of the country. Alongside live events, Bitqik will produce online content aimed at students and first-time users, allowing people to engage with the material remotely.
The initiative comes as digital asset companies increasingly emphasise education as a way to encourage adoption and address concerns around misuse and misunderstanding. By focusing on how stablecoins and blockchain technology function in practice, rather than on price movements alone, Tether and Bitqik are positioning the programme as a foundation for wider participation in digital finance in Laos.
