Stripe powers payments for OpenRouter’s AI developer platform
Partnership supports global billing, fraud prevention and local payments across more than 150 countries
Stripe is powering payments, billing and fraud controls for OpenRouter, an AI developer platform that serves more than five million users and provides access to hundreds of artificial intelligence models.
OpenRouter offers a single interface for developers to connect with dozens of model providers. The company said it uses Stripe Invoicing and Stripe Tax to manage customer billing and tax compliance, and tunes fraud controls through Stripe’s Radar for Fraud Teams.
The platform accepts credit cards as well as local payment methods including Alipay, WeChat Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App and Google Pay. It uses Stripe’s Adaptive Pricing to display local currency pricing in over 150 countries.
Stripe partnered with OpenRouter to allow developers to route model requests through the platform while Stripe manages usage tracking, pricing application and customer billing.
