The Stranger Things Official Playlist on Spotify is running a timed takeover of radio-style broadcasts that drop clues from 16–18 December and unlock exclusive Volume 2 content in the Spotify mobile app between 18–20 December.

The company said in a statement the broadcasts come from WSQK The Squawk’s Rockin’ Robin (Maya Hawke) and that new clues will be released each day at 8 a.m. ET. The company added that not every broadcast is a clue and advised listeners to note any numbers they hear.

The company said the final clue will be revealed on 18 December. Fans must piece together four clues and enter the resulting numerical code into the Spotify search bar to unlock content from Volume 2. The experience is available globally and exclusively in the Spotify mobile app from 18–20 December.

The company said the playlist previously featured reimagined character covers when Season 5, Volume 1 was released, and earlier surprises included a demogorgon in the play bar and a Stranger Things Musical Time Machine. The release increased global streams for tracks such as "Upside Down" by Diana Ross (up 510 percent), "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany (up 490 percent), "Mr. Sandman" by The Chordettes (up 625 percent), and "Fernando" by ABBA (up 335 percent).

Season 5, Volume 2 is due 25 December. Listeners should open the Stranger Things Official Playlist in the Spotify mobile app to participate.

The Recap

  • Playlist takeover hides daily clues on the official Spotify playlist.
  • Four clues form a numerical code entered into search.
  • Enter the code in Spotify mobile app between 18–20 December.
