Spotify to roll out music video service to Premium users
Premium users will be able to watch Spotify TV, desktop, iOS and Android, in a roll-out starting in United States and Canada.
Spotify is rolling out its music videos beta to Premium users in the United States and Canada.
The company said the expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers. It added the initial catalog is limited while the feature remains in beta and that availability will grow over the coming months.
The company cited a Burson survey of 8,400 respondents across 19 markets found that more than 70% of users said more video content would enhance their Spotify experience.
Premium subscribers in the beta markets can open Spotify on TV, desktop, iOS and Android, select a supported track and tap Switch to video to start the music video; pressing Switch to audio returns to background listening.
Initial music videos include artists such as Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano and Carín León, the company said.
The company said fans who discover a track with a music video on Spotify are 34% more likely to stream it again and 24% more likely to save or share it in the following week, and that super listeners go on to stream the artist 85% more in the next month, on average.
Music videos will be available to all Premium subscribers in the US and Canada by the end of the month.
