Spotify launches creator-focused Golden Globes week ahead of podcast award debut
Music streaming group Spotify is launching a week-long programme spotlighting creators ahead of the Golden Globes, which will feature a Best Podcast category for the first time.
Spotify said it is marking the introduction of a Best Podcast category at the Golden Globes with a week-long celebration focused on creators across its platform.
The company said the programme will culminate at the Golden Globes ceremony and highlighted the growth of podcasting on Spotify, with the number of titles rising from around 200,000 in early 2019 to more than seven million shows available in over 180 markets.
Spotify said it will also unveil new tools and spaces aimed at supporting creators, alongside a partnership with The Hollywood Reporter to co-host Golden Week Nominees Night. The event will include musical performances from Chaka Khan, John Legend and Miles Caton, and will recognise nominees in the Best Podcast category.
Nominees include Good Hang with Amy Poehler, produced by Spotify-owned podcast network The Ringer, the company said.
