Sony signs on to publish Bad Robot Games’ first in-house title, a co-op shooter for PS5 and PC

Sony Interactive Entertainment has struck a deal to produce and publish Bad Robot Games’ first internally developed project, a four-player co-op shooter in the works for PlayStation 5 and PC.

The game has not been formally announced, but the companies confirmed the partnership in a joint statement on December 4.

The title is directed by Mike Booth, best known for his work on Left 4 Dead, and represents a new intellectual property for Bad Robot Games. “Partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment allows us to bring our new IP to life, with an expansive vision for this new universe,” said Anna Sweet, the studio’s chief executive.

She said PlayStation’s backing would help the team “deliver a bold, innovative experience that is truly special for players,” adding that she is “excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”

Christian Svensson, vice president and head of 2P/3P Content Ventures & Strategic Initiatives at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said the company is “greatly impressed with the talent Bad Robot Games has assembled at their studio, and are thrilled to partner with them to help produce and publish their upcoming game.”

He added that Bad Robot Games’ “unique creative voice and passion for innovating across all forms of interactive entertainment perfectly aligns with SIE’s mission to craft experiences that resonate deeply with players.”

The companies said more information about the game will be shared later.
