Soccerverse secures FIFPRO license
Soccerverse has obtained worldwide rights to use the names and images of more than 65,000 professional football players.
Soccerverse, a blockchain-based fantasy football 'game, has signed an agreement with FIFPRO that grants the rights to use the names and images of more than 65,000 professional football players.
The worldwide licence covers players from over 70 FIFPRO‑affiliated member unions, including England, France, Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, Norway and Sweden, the company said in a statement.
The decentralized fantasy football game runs on the Polygon blockchain and will integrate officially licensed players into its management and trading systems, the company said.
“Partnering with FIFPRO is a landmark moment for Soccerverse and a massive win for our community,” said Andrew Gore, CEO of Soccerverse.
“Trust and authenticity are critical to our vision, and this license is our commitment to building a legitimate football universe.
"This is a true partnership that also supports FIFPRO’s vital mission, providing a global platform for the entire collective of players and giving our community the chance to discover talent from under-represented footballing nations.”
FIFPRO, which effectively acts as the global players union for football (soccer), said it values partners who are willing to innovate and rethink the norm as digital entertainment continues to evolve.
Soccerverse went live in January 2025, and entered its second season with over 2,000 active managers.
The integration of the officially licensed players is expected to rolled out in Soccerverse over the coming weeks, the company noted.
