SAP, Syngenta strike multi-year AI technology partnership
German software group SAP and Swiss agribusiness Syngenta have agreed a multi-year strategic technology partnership aimed at accelerating AI-driven innovation across Syngenta’s global operations.
SAP and Syngenta have entered a multi-year strategic technology partnership to modernise Syngenta’s core operations and expand the use of artificial intelligence across its global business, the companies said.
The agreement will focus on enabling advanced data analytics across manufacturing, supply chain management and grower-facing products and services, with operations centred in Basel and Walldorf.
Syngenta will begin the transformation by deploying SAP Cloud ERP Private solutions and SAP Business Data Cloud to establish a unified, secure and scalable data foundation, according to the statement. The companies said this will allow Syngenta to integrate data more effectively across its global operations.
The partnership will also combine SAP Business AI with AI-assisted tools, including the Joule copilot, to support faster decision-making and improved operational efficiency. The companies said the approach will ensure growers retain control and privacy over proprietary data.
Feroz Sheikh, chief information and digital officer at Syngenta Group, said artificial intelligence had become a core competitive advantage for the business and a key driver of agricultural transformation.
The companies said the initiative is designed to address challenges linked to climate variability and increasing supply chain complexity, while positioning Syngenta to help meet rising global food demand, with the world’s population projected to reach 10 billion by 2050.
