Reddit hires new engineering chief and promotes two senior leaders
The social media company has made three executive appointments as it looks to strengthen its leadership team.
Reddit, the social media platform, has hired Amit Puntambekar as executive vice president of consumer engineering and promoted two existing leaders to expanded roles.
Puntambekar will lead consumer engineering strategy and execution, with a focus on improving the Reddit experience for users.
He is set to start in late February and will report directly to Steve Huffman, Reddit's founder and chief executive.
The company also elevated Laura Nestler to EVP of community and promoted Jim Squires to chief marketing officer (CMO).
Nestler will continue to lead Reddit's community team, overseeing strategy and operations supporting 121 million daily unique visitors and more than 100,000 active communities.
Squires will take charge of business and consumer marketing strategies, covering brand, creative and customer growth initiatives.
The appointments follow the promotion of Stephen Riad to EVP of advertising sales in December, marking a broader push by Reddit to bolster its senior leadership ranks.
"I believe that Reddit is the most authentic corner of the internet, a place that stays personal and connected even at an immense global scale," Puntambekar said.
