Qualcomm invests in legal AI start-up SpotDraft
SpotDraft raised $8 million from Qualcomm Ventures in a strategic Series B extension.
Legal AI start-up SpotDraft has raised $8 million from Qualcomm Ventures, in a strategic extension of its Series B funding.
The company, in an announcement, said the investment follows its Series B round which, in February 2025, raised $56 million, and it reflects accelerating enterprise demand for secure, high-performance legal AI that can run directly on device.
SpotDraft highlighted that its VerifAI contract review tool runs entirely on device, performing embeddings, clause extraction, risk scoring and edits on Snapdragon processors, with internet connectivity required only for sharing, login and license checks.
“This investment validates the architectural direction we've taken with SpotDraft,” said SpotDraft co-founder and CEO Shashank Bijapur.
It comes after SpotDraft was featured at Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Summit 2025, where it demonstrated fully on-device contract review running on Snapdragon X Elite laptops without cloud connectivity.
“AI is driving a fundamental shift in how legal workflows are executed, bringing new levels of efficiency to an inherently text-intensive domain,” said Quinn Li, Qualcomm SVP and global head of Qualcomm Ventures.
SpotDraft CTO Madhav Bhagat, meanwhile, added: “SpotDraft is deliberately separating what needs to run close to the document from what benefits from the cloud."
