Palo Alto Networks has now completed its deal to acquire CyberArk, establishing Identity Security as a core pillar of its 'platformization' strategy.

The deal, agreed last summer, sees the American firm acquire the Israeli information security business for $25bn.

This pick-up is intended to enable Palo Alto to secure human, machine and agentic identities across the enterprise, the firm said.

Palo Alto Networks, in an announcement, highlighted that machine identities now outnumber human identities by more than 80 to 1, 75% of organizations have human identities governed by outdated privilege models, and nearly 90% have suffered an identity-centric breach.

"The emerging wave of AI agents will require us to secure every identity—human, machine, and agent," CEO Nikesh Arora said in the announcement.

"This is why we moved decisively by announcing our intent to acquire CyberArk last July and am excited to have product integration begin."

Arora added: "For our customers, this means the end of ‘identity silos.’ They can now manage privileged access across their entire hybrid cloud environment from the same company they trust for Network Security and Security Operations—to ensure they are secure in the AI era.”

CyberArk boss Matt Cohen added: “Joining forces with Palo Alto Networks creates the definitive cyber guardian for the modern enterprise.

"This is a win-win: our customers gain access to the world’s most comprehensive security portfolio, and our employees join a global innovation engine."

The Recap

  • Palo Alto Networks completed its acquisition of CyberArk.
  • Machine identities outnumber human identities by more than 80 to 1.
  • Q2 FY2026 earnings call set for 17 February at 1:30 pm (PT).
