Palantir wins US defence authorisation to deploy software at the battlefield edge
Clearance allows data analytics firm to run its full technology stack on any hardware in on-premises and frontline settings
Palantir Technologies, the US data analytics and defence technology company, has received authorisation from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to deploy its software suite in on-premises and edge environments, extending its existing security clearances beyond the cloud.
The authorisation, called PFCS Forward, covers Palantir's full technology stack, including its Gotham, Foundry and AIP platforms, and allows them to run on customer-chosen hardware in settings ranging from enterprise data centres to forward military positions.
Palantir said the clearance is hardware-agnostic, meaning US government customers can use a single accreditation package across different architectures rather than seeking separate approvals for each deployment.
The company described the approach as "authorise once, use many", saying it can significantly reduce the time needed for individual sites to reach full authorisation to operate by removing the need for site-specific security assessments of the software.
"The future of warfighting demands software that can operate anywhere, from enterprise data centres to the tactical edge," said Akash Jain, president and chief technology officer of Palantir's US government division.
The authorisation covers Impact Level 5 and Impact Level 6 classifications, which govern the handling of controlled unclassified and classified national security information respectively.
