OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health
Health conversations will be stored with added privacy protections, and won't be used to train OpenAI models.
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a new feature within ChatGPT for health and wellness support.
The tool allows users to securely connect medical records and wellness apps. Supported integrations include Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal. The platform is designed to help users understand medical results, prepare for doctor visits, and explore wellness options.
“ChatGPT Health helps people take a more active role in understanding and managing their health and wellness—while supporting, not replacing, care from clinicians,” the company stated.
Health conversations are stored in a separate space with added privacy protections. These include dedicated memory, encryption, and data compartmentalization. Health data is not used to train OpenAI’s models.
The product was developed with input from over 260 physicians from 60 countries. It has been tested using a custom evaluation framework called HealthBench. This assesses model responses based on clinical relevance, clarity, and safety.
Access is currently limited to users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. Medical record connections are only available in the United States. Connecting Apple Health requires an iOS device.
ChatGPT Health is available on web and iOS platforms. It supports uploads of files and images, voice mode, and personalized instructions.
