Nintendo, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft say they will continue to collaborate to improve player safety across their platforms.
The tech giants, in an announcement, said they pursue a multidisciplinary approach that combines advanced technology, research-driven insights, community efforts and human oversight to make gaming positive and enjoyable for all, with particular attention to youngest players.
They said they provide controls that let players customise their gaming experience and offer parents tools and information to set appropriate limits.
The companies' joint statement added they promote safety tools and policies are enforced through preventive and remedial measures.
Also, they partner with industry trade groups, regulators, law enforcement, non-profits and experts, naming Thriving in Games Group, the Family Online Safety Institute, the ESRB and PEGI, and participating in initiatives including the Tech Coalition and its Lantern program.
Reporting is intended to be easy, to allow the removal of unsuitable content, to restrict access for misconduct and to escalate sanctions for egregious or repeat violations.
