Google has launched a redesigned Google Home app powered by Gemini for Home. The app features a simplified interface and improved integration with Nest devices.
The new app loads significantly faster, with some Android devices experiencing over 70% improved load times. App crashes have decreased by nearly 80%, and battery consumption and memory usage have been optimised.
Users can now access all core Nest devices and features within the Google Home app, eliminating the need to switch between apps. “The rebuilt Google Home app is fast, reliable and complete and powered by Gemini,” said Bryant Herron-Patmon, Director of Product Management, Google Home.
The app's design includes a three-tab layout for easier navigation. The Home Tab provides an overview of devices, the Activity Tab consolidates event history, and the Automations Tab allows users to create and manage automations more efficiently.
Google is committed to ongoing improvements, with over 100 feature and performance enhancements made over the past year. The updates will begin rolling out globally today.
