Multiverse Computing becomes Spain's largest AI start up

Multiverse Computing, a Spain-based AI specialist, raised €189 million in funding to support development of a compression technology for AI models.
Proprietary tools made by Multiverse can reduce AI model size by up to 95% and lower computing costs by as much as 80%, without sacrificing performance, the company claims.
The technology is said to use principles from quantum physics and machine learning.
Multiverse has already released compressed versions of open-source models such as Llama, DeepSeek, and Mistral. And, it is available on the Amazon Web Services’ AI marketplace.
Investors in the round include Bullhound Capital, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Forgepoint Capital, and Toshiba.
A new valuation set in the funding round makes Multiverse Spain’s largest AI startup, with the firm now worth more than €500 million.
