Moomoo launches Monday and Wednesday options trading following SEC approval
Retail investors gain expanded access to short-dated options with new expirations and educational tools
Moomoo has introduced Monday and Wednesday weekly options to its platform, giving its 28 million global investors immediate access to Nasdaq’s newly approved expirations.
The rollout follows recent approval by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company marked the launch with a livestreamed event featuring Neil McDonald, Chief Executive of Moomoo US, and Tanya Patwa, Head of U.S. Options Sales at Nasdaq.
“We witnessed an explosion in options trading interest throughout 2025,” McDonald said. “Our data shows the number of options transactions surged 86% year-over-year.
The introduction of Monday and Wednesday options is perfectly timed. Retail investors are savvy; when provided with proper training, access, and advanced toolkits, they are fully equipped to capitalise on market opportunities.”
Moomoo said the additional expirations allow traders to better align strategies with scheduled market events such as earnings announcements and economic data releases.
The new expirations also expand the frequency of income-focused strategies from once to three times per week and create further opportunities for short-dated options positioning.
The platform supports up to 13 built-in options strategies and offers tools including an Options Chain with real-time premiums, volumes, Greeks and implied volatility, as well as an Options Price Calculator for modelling theoretical prices. Moomoo said it also provides free online courses aimed at its global retail investor community.

It encouraged users to review the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options and consider their investment goals, risk tolerance and tax implications. Moomoo added that it does not guarantee favourable investment outcomes.
