Microsoft launches Elevate for Educators with free AI tools and training
Microsoft has unveiled a new education initiative and AI-powered capabilities designed to help schools, teachers and students prepare for an AI-driven future.
Microsoft Corp. has launched Microsoft Elevate for Educators, alongside new education-focused artificial intelligence features, aimed at supporting schools and educators as AI becomes embedded in everyday learning, the company said.
Microsoft said the Elevate for Educators programme connects teachers with a global peer network, professional development resources and in-demand credentials.
It added that new AI-powered capabilities will be provided at no additional cost to customers using Microsoft 365 Education.
The company said Elevate for Educators is available immediately and includes free self-paced courses, live learning sessions and AI-powered simulations offered in more than 13 languages.
Justin Spelhaug, president of Microsoft Elevate, said the initiative is intended to ensure AI supports educators while earning the trust of students and families.
The programme includes a free Microsoft Elevate Educator Credential developed in partnership with ISTE + ASCD and aligned with the AI Literacy Framework. Microsoft said a Microsoft Certified Instructional Technologist and Coach certification will be introduced in the coming months.
Microsoft also said it is updating its Elevate Educators and Elevate Schools communities with year-round membership, expanded training and a progressive achievement system.
Separately, the company outlined new education-specific features within the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, including Teach, which it said helps educators streamline lesson planning, adapt instruction and support assessment.
Microsoft added that Microsoft Learning Zone is now available as a free AI-powered learning app, while the Study and Learn Agent will enter preview later this month.
