Microsoft highlights agentic business applications at Convergence 2025

Microsoft is using Convergence 2025 to push a clear message: Agentic business apps are the new centre of gravity.

Satish Thomas laid it out in a blog post. He says generative AI and agent-driven tools are shifting companies away from “systems of record” and toward “systems of action.” The idea is simple. Data comes in. Agents act on it. Work moves faster.

“This isn’t the future. It’s unfolding now,” he wrote. And Microsoft is treating it like a full rewrite of how businesses operate.

Dynamics 365 sits at the core of the pitch. Microsoft says new updates to the Dynamics ERP Model Context Protocol server and a new analytics MCP server let agents reason over operational and financial data at massive scale. That includes support for millions of ERP actions.

Microsoft 365 Copilot ties everything together across Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Microsoft 365.

The company is embedding agents directly into tools used for finance, supply chains, field service, projects and SMB operations. It also announced a public preview of a Product Change Management Agent Template built in Copilot Studio.

Partners are part of the ecosystem. RSM is bringing a Shop Floor agent. HSO built a PayFlow Agent. Cegeka has a Quality Impact Recall Agent. Factorial and Zensai are adding their own integrations. Convergence will show how these first-party, partner and custom agents connect and work together.

Microsoft says the event runs 9 to 12 December. The theme is how companies can move from passive data systems to active, AI-driven systems of agency powered by Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Cloud.
