Microsoft is expanding Work IQ, the intelligence layer behind Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents, to surface organizational knowledge and make artificial intelligence more responsive to how companies work, the company said in a company blog post.
The blog post frames the updates under three headings — Build, Publish and Discover — aimed at turning intent into tailored solutions, centralising communications, and finding knowledge in the flow of work.
Under Build, Microsoft describes "custom AI skills" as packages of organizational knowledge that include standards, terminology, governance rules and business logic to keep AI behaviour aligned with company needs. Under Publish, the company says communication can be managed centrally while still reaching people where they work, helping organisations publish critical knowledge faster and aligned to standards and intent.

Under Discover, Microsoft says Work IQ will transform large volumes of information into timely, relevant insights so Copilot can surface the right content in context, connect knowledge across Microsoft 365, and deliver answers grounded in actual company work rather than generic data. The blog post names Takeda, Amey, Mars and Hertz as organisations using these capabilities.
