The Blayzer and Scriber frames go on pre-order now ahead of retail availability on 14 April, alongside new software features for existing devices.

Meta is launching prescription-optimised AI glasses in two new Ray-Ban styles, with US pre-orders opening now ahead of retail availability from 14 April, as the social media company moves to capture the billions of people worldwide who wear corrective lenses.

The two new frames, the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2), are priced from $499 and have been designed for all-day wear, featuring overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads and optician-adjustable temple tips to accommodate a wide range of prescriptions.

Meta said the move responds to existing demand, with many Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta owners already paying to have prescription lenses fitted to their devices independently.

Alongside the new prescription frames, Meta is expanding colour and lens options across the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) range, including Transitions lenses that darken automatically in sunlight, and adding new Prizm lens pairings for the Oakley Meta Vanguard and HSTN models, with some Prizm Transitions combinations due later this spring.

The hardware announcements are accompanied by a series of software upgrades rolling out to existing devices.

Users will gain hands-free nutrition tracking, allowing them to log meals by describing what they are eating, as well as on-device WhatsApp message summaries and a recall feature that lets wearers retrieve information from past conversations, with example prompts including "Hey Meta, catch me up on my messages" and "What did Jamie suggest for dinner?"

Nutrition logging will be available to users aged 18 and over in the US for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta shortly, with support for the Meta Ray-Ban Display arriving later this summer.

A Neural Handwriting feature for the Meta Ray-Ban Display is also planned as part of the software rollout.

  • Meta launches prescription‑optimized Ray‑Ban Meta Blayzer and Scriber.
  • Pre‑orders start at $499 in the US through Meta.com and Ray‑Ban.com.
  • Retail availability begins April 14 in US and select markets.
