Meta launches Oakley AI glasses

Meta has confirmed its smart-glasses collab with Oakley, launching the Meta HSTN 'Performance AI glasses'.
The glasses pair Oakley’s signature design with Meta’s AI and spatial computing technology. They include a built-in camera, microphone, and open-ear speakers.
The glasses offer up to eight hours of typical use and 19 hours on standby, they can also benefit from a charging case that provides up to an extra 48 hours of power.
On the face of it, the camera stats are impressive for the size. They capture video in Ultra HD (3K) for clearer footage.
Meta AI is built into the glasses. Wearers can ask questions or issue commands hands-free. For example, users can say, “Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?” or “Hey Meta, take a video” during sports activities .
Six frame and lens combinations are available, all Rx-ready for prescription lenses.
Options include PRIZM Ruby, Polar Black, Polar Deep Water, Transitions Amethyst, Transitions Grey and clear lenses.

A limited-edition model with gold accents and 24K PRIZM Polar lenses will be available to preorder on July 11 for $499. Standard versions start at $399 later this summer.
A global marketing campaign features 'Team Oakley' athletes Kylian Mbappé and Patrick Mahomes, along with Gabriel Medina, J.R. Smith, Ishod Wair, Boo Johnson and Bicho Carrera.

The glasses will debut at this weekend's Fanatics Fest, which is a 'comicon' like event taking place in New York, sponsored by Meta, where sports fans can meet their heroes and, of course, buy a ton of merchandise.
Also, next weekend, the smart glasses will be promoted at the UFC International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
The initial rollout covers the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Mexico, India and the UAE will follow later in the year.
