Meta expands anti-scam drive with fresh campaign featuring Neena Gupta
Third edition of ‘Scam Se Bacho’ backed by SEBI and India’s cybercrime unit to highlight digital fraud risks
Meta has launched the third phase of its nationwide “Scam Se Bacho” campaign, featuring actor Neena Gupta and prominent digital creators, to raise awareness about online fraud.
The campaign runs in partnership with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the company said in a statement.
The latest campaign film stars Gupta alongside creators Sukriti Chaturvedi, Yuvraj Dua and Shreyas Mendiratta and illustrates scams including fake job offers, impersonation by fraudsters posing as officials, and investment schemes offering unrealistic returns.
Using a cautionary but accessible tone, the film encourages viewers to question urgency, authority or opportunity when encountering suspicious messages or offers.
“Scams today don’t always look dangerous – they often sound friendly, urgent and convincing,” Gupta said. “This educational film is a friendly reminder for people to pause, question and verify before you act, and definitely use Meta’s safety tools.”
Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, chair of SEBI, said: “Financial scams are increasingly using digital platforms to mislead individuals through false claims of legitimacy and unrealistic return promises. Citizens must remain vigilant and ensure they engage only with SEBI-registered entities.”
He added that Meta’s awareness campaign plays a critical role in helping protect investors and the public from growing cases of online fraud.

Meta urged individuals to report scams and use India’s national cybercrime helpline, 1930, in case of suspicious activity.
The campaign will run through the year, supported by regional partnerships with creators across India.
