Meta is expanding the range of content available through its AI assistant, adding international news, entertainment and lifestyle coverage across its apps and devices through a series of publisher partnerships.
The company has named News Corp, French newspaper Le Figaro, Spanish media group Prisa and German outlet Süddeutsche Zeitung as its initial partners.
Meta says the integrations are designed to help Meta AI respond more accurately to fast-moving events and to present a broader range of sources and viewpoints than it currently offers.
Rather than summarising articles within the assistant itself, the feature will link users directly to partner websites, giving publishers a potential new source of traffic alongside the visibility that comes with appearing in AI-generated responses.

The expansion comes as AI assistants increasingly become a first port of call for news and information, prompting questions about how publishers can secure a share of the audience that would previously have arrived via search engines or social media feeds.
Meta said it plans to continue adding new partners and exploring additional features for Meta AI, without specifying a timeline for further announcements.
