Manchester United linked to Tuchel as Erik ten Hag nears exit - reports

Manchester United is preparing to sack football coach Erik ten Hag in the wake of the club's latest poor performance, that's according to widespread media reports on Monday.

Former Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and exiting Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is meanwhile the latest potential successor being linked with the job, replacing Dutchman ten Hag.

Amidst a challenging season and recent unconvincing performances, ten Hag's position as manager is increasingly precarious.

Despite a recent FA Cup semi-final victory, on penalties after surrendering a three goal lead, United's overall form has been inconsistent, leading to speculation about ten Hag's future.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United's new investor and part owner, is said to be leading the decision making at the Manchester Club, and has reportedly initiated contact with Tuchel, signaling potential changes in the coaching staff.

United, meanwhile, remains focused on the current season, with comments from club captain Bruno Fernandes emphasising the team's commitment to the season's remaining whilst disregarding the uncertainties over the future.

Thomas Tuchel, currently set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, is seen as a viable candidate due to his successful track record, including two Ligue 1 titles and a Bundesliga championship.

Media reports vary widely in their focus with some concentrating on the team's recent on-field performances and player reactions. Others focus on the rumoured managerial changes and speculate on potential decisions of the owners.

Much of the reporting leans toward the speculative and sensational elements, which can be typical of sports articles, especially for football.
