Kraken deepens European footprint in 2025 amid regulatory clarity and local expansion
Crypto exchange builds regional teams, launches new products and engages directly with users as MiCA and MiFID shape a clearer operating framework
Kraken expanded its presence across Europe in 2025, investing in local teams, rolling out new products and strengthening partnerships across the region.
The crypto platform said improved regulatory clarity under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) provided a clear framework for its activities.
Kraken added that its strategy remains anchored to “security, trust and a long-term commitment to the crypto ecosystem”.
Kraken said it operates as a regulated platform with a focus on local investment, positioning itself as what it described as “a truly local crypto partner” for European users.
To mark the end of the year, the company ran a 2025 Celebration Tour, meeting users and community members in Riga, Lisbon, Dublin, Warsaw and Frankfurt.
“There’s no substitute for meeting our users in person and celebrating the progress we’ve made together,” the company said.
Kraken described 2025 as a defining year for its European operations and said it views the progress made as a foundation rather than a conclusion. The company added that it expects further expansion and activity across the region in the year ahead.
