HBO Max expands direct-to-consumer streaming across eight new European and regional markets

Warner Bros. Discovery rolls out HBO Max in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel and Greece, with broad distribution partnerships and a slate spanning premium drama, films and live sport.

HBO Max has launched direct-to-consumer streaming in eight additional markets, extending Warner Bros. Discovery’s European footprint to Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel and Greece.

At launch, the service is also available through a range of local partners. HBO Max is offered as an add-on for Amazon Prime Video customers in Italy, Germany and Austria, bundled with RTL+ in Germany and coming soon to Austria, integrated with waipu.tv in Germany, and available via TIM in Italy. In Switzerland the service is distributed through Sunrise and Swisscom, in Israel through Hot and Yes, and in Greece through Vodafone, the company said.

The initial programming slate for the new markets includes Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and the HBO Original A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which debuts on 19 January. Returning series include Industry season four and The Pitt season two, alongside new titles such as the ice-hockey romance Heated Rivalry. Live sport coverage includes the Australian Open and the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

February premieres feature Portobello and Banksters, with 4 Blocks Zero and Melania Rea – Beyond the Case scheduled for later in the year. The first wave of local programming begins on 20 February, led by Marco Bellocchio’s Portobello in Italy.

“It is exciting to kick off the New Year by expanding into some of the biggest economies in the world, as we continue to deliver HBO Max to new viewers,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery. He added that the company plans to complete HBO Max’s European rollout with launches in the U.K. and Ireland in late March.

HBO Max offers three monthly base plans, Basic with Ads, Standard and Premium, alongside an optional Sports add-on for live sports coverage.
