Google rolls out AI search mode in India
Google has now rolled out its 'AI mode' search tool to users in India.
The experimental feature is available through opt-in access via Google's Search Labs.
The tool supports English-language queries and allows users to ask complex, multi-part questions. Google has also enabled voice and image search, which are popular methods of interaction among Indian users.
The AI mode is built on a custom version of the company’s Gemini 2.5 model.
Early adopters have been seen to submit queries that are two to three times longer than typical search entries.
Google first tested the AI tool in the US with premium subscribers, then extended the rollout more broadly following announcements at its Google IO event, and is now opening it up to more territories and audiences.
