Google launches offline AI dictation app

Google launched an artificial intelligence-powered dictation app called Google AI Edge Eloquent that provides live transcription and on-device processing. The app is offered free and runs offline on supported hardware, the company said in an announcement.

Google positions the app as a live AI transcription tool that “automatically polish[es] your speech,” removing disfluencies and refining phrasing after you finish speaking. The product does not require a paid plan; according to the announcement, it “requires no subscription and has no usage limits.”

The app filters filler words and cleans up transcripts when you stop talking. As an example, Google highlighted that the system will remove simple hesitations such as “um,” the company said in an announcement. Google also described the processing as happening on-device, which lets the app run without a network connection.

Google AI Edge Eloquent is currently available only on iOS. Google plans to bring the app to Android and macOS, the announcement says, without specifying a timeline. The company markets the release as a no-cost, unlimited tool for users who need quick, offline transcription and spoken-text polishing.
