Google is rolling out restaurant booking functionality within AI Mode in Search for users in the UK, allowing diners to describe their requirements in natural language and receive tailored suggestions with direct links to complete reservations through partner platforms.
The update represents an expansion of what Google describes as agentic capabilities in Search, moving the product beyond information retrieval toward completing discrete real-world tasks on a user's behalf.
The company cited a 140% surge in searches for "when to book a table" this year as evidence of growing demand for more specific, planning-oriented queries from diners, framing the new feature as a direct response to how people are already using Search.
Users can submit conversational prompts specifying group size, cuisine, location, time and requirements such as dog-friendly venues or dietary accommodations, with Google offering "find a table for two at a dog-friendly Italian restaurant in Shoreditch for Saturday at 7 pm" as an illustrative example.
AI Mode queries multiple booking platforms and restaurant websites simultaneously for real-time availability, then presents a curated shortlist of matches with direct links to finalise reservations through the relevant service.
Partner platforms integrated at launch include TheFork, Sevenrooms, Resdiary, Mozrest, Foodhub, Dojo and DesignMyNight.
The feature is available in the UK from today.

The launch places Google in more direct competition with dedicated restaurant discovery and booking platforms, as the company uses AI Mode to extend Search's role from a starting point for planning into a tool capable of completing the transaction itself.
The move follows a broader pattern of Google embedding agentic functionality across its products, with AI Mode in Search increasingly positioned as an assistant capable of executing multi-step tasks rather than simply returning relevant links.
The recap
