Google has announced a set of artificial intelligence features coming to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, including task automation powered by its Gemini 3 models, expanded visual search capabilities and on-device scam detection during phone calls.

The Gemini 3 models will handle multi-step tasks, ask follow-up questions when needed and suggest next steps, Google said, describing the updates as part of a shift from Android as an operating system to what it calls an intelligent system.

An early preview of task automation, available initially in the United States and South Korea, will allow users to order rides, assemble grocery carts and organise dinner orders through goal-directed instructions.

Google is also expanding Circle to Search, its visual search tool already available on more than 580 million Android devices, with multi-object image recognition that allows users to select several items within a single photo and find matching products, including a virtual try-on feature using uploaded images.

For call protection, Google is integrating its on-device Gemini model with Scam Detection inside the Samsung Phone app on Galaxy S26 devices, delivering audio and haptic alerts if a potential scam is identified during a call.

Google said the analysis runs entirely on the device and that the feature is automatically disabled for calls from contacts already saved by the user.

The features will be available on the Galaxy S26 series at launch, with further capabilities to follow.

The recap

  • Google adds Gemini-powered AI features to Galaxy S26 series.
  • Circle to Search already used on more than 580 million devices.
  • Features arrive on Galaxy S26 at launch; more capabilities planned.
