For All Mankind returns to Apple TV with season five on 27 March

Apple said the fifth season of For All Mankind will premiere on Apple TV on 27 March, launching with a single episode followed by weekly releases every Friday through 29 May.

In a statement, the company said the 10-episode season will make its global debut with one episode on 27 March, with new episodes released each week. All four previous seasons are currently available to stream on Apple TV.

Season five picks up in the years following the Goldilocks asteroid heist, a major turning point in the series’ alternate history of space exploration. According to Apple, the Martian settlement of Happy Valley has expanded into a full colony with thousands of residents and now serves as a launch point for missions deeper into the solar system. As Mars grows in strategic importance, the company said, friction increases as governments on Earth push to impose law and order on the red planet.

For viewers less familiar with the series, For All Mankind imagines a world in which the Soviet Union landed on the Moon first, triggering an extended and intensified space race. Over successive seasons, the show has moved from the early days of NASA to permanent off-world settlements, blending personal drama with geopolitical rivalry.

Apple said the returning ensemble cast includes Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña and Wrenn Schmidt. New series regulars joining the cast include Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz and Ines Asserson.

The series was created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. Apple said Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions. Additional executive producers include Kira Snyder, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein, with Sony Pictures Television producing the series for Apple TV.

Apple used the announcement to reiterate the breadth of its streaming service, which offers drama, comedy, films, documentaries and children’s programming across multiple devices. Apple TV launched on 1 November 2019 and, according to the company, Apple Original films and series have received 682 wins and more than 3,200 award nominations.

The service is available at tv.apple.com for $12.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. Apple added that customers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K or Mac may be eligible for three months of Apple TV at no additional cost, subject to terms and automatic renewal unless cancelled.

With season five pushing the story further into a contested, lived-in solar system, Apple is positioning For All Mankind as a long-running flagship series that continues to evolve alongside the ambitions of its fictional spacefaring world.
