FCA and Nvidia team up on AI sandbox to accelerate UK financial innovation
The FCA, the UK’s financial regulator, is teaming up with Nvidia to launch a new AI-focused initiative.
The initiative, dubbed the “Supercharged Sandbox”, is designed to support innovation across the financial services sector.
It will provide financial firms with access to Nvidia’s accelerated computing and AI enterprise software, helping them safely experiment with emerging technologies under the supervision of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Targeted at firms in the early discovery and experimentation phase of AI deployment, the sandbox opens for applications immediately, with successful candidates set to begin testing from October.
“This collaboration will help those that want to test AI ideas but who lack the capabilities to do so," said Jessica Rusu, the FCA’s chief data, intelligence and information officer.
"We’ll help firms harness AI to benefit our markets and consumers, while supporting economic growth.”
Dr Jochen Papenbrock, EMEA head of financial technology at Nvidia, added: “AI is fundamentally reshaping the financial sector by automating processes, enhancing data analysis, and improving decision-making, which leads to greater efficiency, accuracy, and risk management across a wide range of financial activities.”
The FCA said the initiative aligns with its strategic goal of supporting growth through technological advancement. It follows calls from the UK government for regulators to encourage innovation and competitiveness in the City.
