DoorDash launches grocery app in ChatGPT
DoorDash has added a grocery shopping app inside ChatGPT that converts recipes into grocery orders from local stores.
DoorDash has integrated a grocery shopping app into ChatGPT that turns recipes into shoppable grocery lists and delivers items from nearby stores, the company said in a statement.
The integration with OpenAI gives users access to nationwide and regional retailers including Kroger, Safeway, Bi-Rite, Schnucks, Fairway Markets and Wegmans, and offers delivery in as little as an hour, the company said.
Users enable DoorDash in ChatGPT by selecting the app in Account Settings, logging into their DoorDash account, and toggling DoorDash on within a chat. After asking ChatGPT for recipe suggestions, the DoorDash app converts ingredients into a cart that users can review and purchase through DoorDash. “AI is unlocking an entirely new search and discovery experience for consumers that’s dynamic and personalized,” said Andy Fang, Co-founder at DoorDash.
DoorDash said the integration is intended to help merchants reach customers at the moment they decide what to cook and that it plans to expand the feature beyond groceries to more local categories. “The DoorDash app in ChatGPT is another step toward bringing our vision to life—where AI connects directly to real-world services, saving people time and effort in their everyday lives,” said Nick Turley, VP, Head of ChatGPT.
The DoorDash app in ChatGPT is live for select users and will expand to all customers in the coming weeks across iOS, Android, desktop and mobile web, the company said. Delivery times are based on averages and may vary, and merchant availability varies by location, the company noted.
