Meta said Dina Powell McCormick will join the company as president and vice chairman, expanding the leadership team as Meta pushes deeper into frontier artificial intelligence and large-scale infrastructure development.

Powell McCormick previously served on Meta’s board of directors and has been closely involved as the company accelerated its work on advanced AI systems and what it describes as personal superintelligence. In her new role, she will become a member of Meta’s management team and help guide overall corporate strategy and execution.

Meta said Powell McCormick will work closely with the company’s compute and infrastructure teams, with a particular focus on ensuring its multi-billion-dollar investments deliver against strategic goals and generate economic impact in the communities where Meta operates. Those investments span data centres, energy systems and global connectivity projects that Meta says are being built at unprecedented scale.

Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and Chief Executive of Meta, said Powell McCormick’s background made her well suited to the role. He cited her experience at the highest levels of global finance and her extensive international relationships as key assets as Meta enters its next phase of growth.

The appointment comes as Meta continues to commit significant capital to the physical and financial foundations required to support the next decade of computing. The company has outlined plans to expand its global data centre footprint, secure long-term energy supplies and build the infrastructure needed to support increasingly compute-intensive AI workloads.

Meta said the scale of these investments requires tighter alignment between strategic planning, execution and capital deployment. By adding Powell McCormick to the executive team, the company aims to strengthen oversight of those programmes while maintaining momentum in its core technology and product development efforts.

The move also reflects Meta’s broader effort to align leadership with its long-term vision for AI-driven platforms and services, as competition intensifies across both consumer and enterprise technology markets.

The Recap

  • Dina Powell McCormick will join Meta as president and vice chairman.
  • She previously served on Meta’s Board of Directors.
  • She will join Meta’s management team and oversee strategic investments.
