Comcast has completed a major network expansion in Northeastern Pennsylvania, bringing reliable, high-speed symmetrical internet to more than 8,800 homes and businesses across three rural counties.

The buildout covers parts of Carbon, Luzerne and Schuylkill counties, including Banks Township, Hazle Township, and several townships and boroughs such as McAdoo, Tamaqua and New Philadelphia. The company said the neighbourhood of Kaska will be connected by spring 2026.

“We’re grateful that Comcast’s investments in Schuylkill County have brought us cutting-edge Xfinity and Comcast Business services,” said Larry Padora, chair of the Schuylkill County Commissioners.

Residents can visit Xfinity.com to check if service is available in their area. Comcast’s Xfinity stores in Wilkes-Barre and Wyomissing are offering service plans with a five-year price guarantee, as well as options for Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile.

Comcast also said it has started connecting homes and businesses in Mifflin Township and will expand service to four additional townships in Columbia County (North Centre, Orange, Scott and South Centre) reaching another 2,700 locations with multi-gigabit internet. The work sets the stage for further expansion toward Bloomsburg and Danville.

The company said the expansion is part of a broader effort that now reaches nearly 65 million locations nationwide.

Comcast is offering its full suite of residential Xfinity services in the newly connected areas, including home WiFi, streaming, mobile, voice and security. Comcast Business is offering internet, mobile and networking solutions with access to a nationwide WiFi hotspot network.

The company also pointed to its efforts to support broadband adoption through programmes such as Internet Essentials, nonprofit partnerships, WiFi-enabled Lift Zones and other initiatives aimed at closing the digital divide.

The Recap

  • Comcast expanded multi-gigabit internet to northeastern Pennsylvania communities.
  • Expansion connected more than 8,800 homes and businesses.
  • Service will expand to more than 2,700 Columbia County locations.
