Comcast adds Amazon Luna cloud gaming to Xfinity devices

Comcast and Amazon launched Amazon Luna cloud gaming on Xfinity TV and streaming devices across the U.S.

The companies, in a statement, said that Xfinity customers with an eligible X1 or Xfinity Xumo Stream Box can access Amazon Luna and titles including Hogwarts Legacy and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Users can open Luna by saying “Luna” into their voice remote and sign in with either an Amazon Prime or Luna Premium subscription.

Amazon said Prime members have access to more than fifty games at no additional cost and GameNight experiences that let players join by scanning a QR code with a mobile phone.

“At Amazon, we’re focused on making gaming more accessible for our customers, and this collaboration with Comcast allows us to reach more customers across the U.S.,” said Jeff Gattis, General Manager, Amazon Luna.

Comcast Global Chief Product Officer Fraser Stirling, meanwhile, added: “Xfinity is redefining what it means to game on the big screen.”

Comcast said its Entertainment OS will blend cloud gaming, live TV, on-demand content and streaming apps into a single interface.

The company added it plans to extend Luna’s availability to additional Entertainment OS-powered devices in the future.

Comcast said it engineered the Xfinity network to provide multi-gig speeds and ultra-low latency for gameplay. The company reported gaming-related traffic grew 30% over the past year and that streamed entertainment accounts for more than 70% of total network traffic.

The Recap

  • Amazon Luna launched on Xfinity TV and streaming devices.
  • Xfinity customers can sign in with Prime or Luna Premium.
  • Comcast plans to extend Luna to more Entertainment OS devices.
