Chrome is expanding its AI capabilities to three new markets, offering features designed to speed common browsing tasks and content understanding.

The rollout includes Gemini in Chrome and support for more than 50 additional languages, including Hindi, French and Spanish; the features are built on Gemini 3.1 and will first arrive on desktop and iOS, with Android users able to activate Gemini by holding the power button.

Charmaine D'Silva, Director of Product Management Chrome, in an announcement, said, "We’re bringing Chrome’s powerful AI features to more regions and languages, helping millions of people get the most out of their browser."

Gemini in Chrome will let users chat with an assistant from the current tab, and the company is rolling the feature out to Mac, Windows and Chromebook Plus users in India, New Zealand and Canada.

The browser’s AI can summarize long pages, answer practical questions, remember visited pages and work across multiple open tabs to consolidate research. Integrations surface results from Gmail, Maps, Calendar and YouTube inside the browser.

Chrome also embeds Nano Banana 2 for on-the-fly image transformation via a side-panel prompt, avoiding file uploads or new tabs.

Google says Gemini in Chrome was developed with security considerations, noting model training to detect known threats such as prompt injection. The company added it will add more capabilities and expand into further regions and languages throughout the year.
