ASML plans to streamline its Technology and IT organisations, resulting in a net reduction of about 1,700 positions, mainly in the Netherlands and partly in the United States.

The company said it will move the Technology organisation from a project and matrix structure to a model in which most engineers are dedicated to specific products and modules, with the aim of simplifying processes and decision-making.

ASML said it will retain a foundational team to preserve technical competence and common standards across engineering domains.

The proposals are expected to eliminate some roles, largely at leadership level, while also creating new engineering positions to support existing and future technology projects, the company said.

ASML added it will review the structure of its IT and Data organisation to streamline operations and improve delivery capabilities.

The company said it will consult with social partners in the Netherlands in the coming weeks to discuss the scope and implementation of the changes.

ASML said it will continue to hire where required to meet customer demand in manufacturing, customer support and sales, and that it will support employees affected by the transition.

The Recap

  • ASML to streamline Technology and IT organisations companywide.
  • Proposed net reduction of around 1,700 positions mostly Netherlands.
  • Company will consult social partners in the Netherlands soon.
