Apple TV picks up The Bear and Black Mirror actor Will Poulter for new show, Beat the Reaper
A 'dramedy', Beat the Reaper will see the British actor executive produce and star in the show, which is being adapted from a Josh Bazell novel.
Apple TV has picked up the dramedy Beat the Reaper, which stars BAFTA Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Will Poulter, who will also serve as an executive producer.
The company said in a statement the series will be showrun and executive produced by Sam Catlin, with Apple Studios and New Regency serving as co-studios. Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann will executive produce for New Regency.
Based on the novel by Josh Bazell, the series will cast Poulter as Dr. Peter Brown, an intern at Boston’s worst hospital who has a talent for medicine and a past he wants to keep hidden. When a patient recognises him, Brown has eight hours to elude the government, mob hitmen, quack surgeons and a trail of dead gangers to try to beat the reaper.
The iPhone maker and content streamer highlighted that, to date, Apple Original films, documentaries and series have earned 662 'wins' and 3,006 award nominations.
