Apple has added live golf scoring to its Apple Sports app for iPhone, giving fans access to real-time updates from all official PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events, including the major championships.

The new feature debuts ahead of this weekend’s WM Phoenix Open, and includes live leaderboards, hole-by-hole scores, round tracking and individual player scorecards, the company said in a statement.

The update also expands football coverage to include live scores from Europe’s DFB-Pokal, Coupe de France, Coppa Italia and Copa del Rey. Users can now view events grouped by league and pin their favourite teams to the top of the home screen, Apple said.

Apple Sports syncs with the My Sports feature already available in the Apple TV and Apple News apps, providing a consistent experience across platforms. The app is free to download from the App Store and is available in more than 40 countries and regions for iPhone users running iOS 17.2 or later.

To access Live Activities, such as real-time scoring updates on the lock screen or Apple Watch, users must be running iOS 18 and watchOS 11 or later. Some features may require a subscription and availability can vary by country or region.

The Recap

  • Apple Sports adds golf to the iPhone app.
  • Live scores for PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events.
  • Coverage begins this weekend with the WM Phoenix Open.
