Amazon plans to invest £40 billion in the UK over the next three years as part of a wide-ranging program of expansion.

The company intends to open new fulfilment centres, launch additional delivery stations and upgrade its transport and logistics network.

The investment includes four large warehouses, with new sites in Hull and Northampton to open in 2025 and 2026 respectively, followed by two further centres in the East Midlands in 2027. The planned facilities in Hull and Northampton will each create around 2,000 jobs.

Amazon is also expanding its corporate footprint in London, with two new offices in Hackney, adding capacity in the capital alongside the firm’s existing headquarters in Shoreditch.

“This is a massive vote of confidence in the future of the UK economy,” said Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
