Amazon extends Alexa+ to the web with launch of Alexa.com
US technology group Amazon has expanded its Alexa+ assistant to the web, giving Early Access users browser-based access alongside devices and mobile apps.
Amazon said Alexa.com is now available to all Alexa+ Early Access customers, extending the upgraded assistant from smart devices and phones to the web.
The company said Alexa+ has developed rapidly since its launch nine months ago, integrating with tens of thousands of services and devices and scaling to tens of millions of customers. Amazon added that Alexa+ has generated twice the number of conversations, three times the purchases and five times the recipe requests, against a backdrop of more than 600 million Alexa-enabled devices sold globally.
According to the company, Alexa.com is designed to combine information with real-world actions and provide continuity across devices for activities such as cooking, shopping, home control and entertainment.
Amazon said partners, including Expedia, Yelp, Angi and Square, are building new agent-based experiences for Alexa+ to support discovery and booking across travel, restaurants, home services and personal wellbeing.
