Adobe and Runway team up to add generative video into CC
Adobe and Runway have formed a multi-year strategic partnership to integrate Runway’s generative video technology into Adobe’s creative applications.
Adobe and Runway have agreed to a new multi-year strategic partnership to bring Runway’s generative video models into Adobe’s tools.
Adobe, in an announcement on Thursday night, said it will be Runway’s preferred API creativity partner and that Firefly customers will receive early access to Runway’s models, including Gen-4.5.
Gen-4.5, Runway's latest model, will be available for a limited time exclusively in Adobe Firefly and on Runway's own platform.
“As AI transforms video production, pros are turning to Adobe’s creative ecosystem – from Firefly to Premiere to After Effects – to imagine, craft and scale their stories across every screen,” said Adobe CFO Ely Greenfield.
Adobe highlighted that Gen-4.5 offers improved motion quality, prompt adherence and visual fidelity and lets creators generate video from text prompts, and now, its outputs will also be available for editing in Firefly, Premiere and After Effects.
Cristóbal Valenzuela, Runway co-founder and CEO, commented: “We’re building AI tools that are redefining creativity, storytelling and entertainment, with Gen-4.5 as the latest example.”
Adobe highlighted that the partners will work with filmmakers, studios, agencies, streaming platforms and brands to co-develop new video capabilities, and that Firefly supports partner AI models from Runway and others (including Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs, Google, Luma AI, OpenAI and Topaz Labs).
